What should a bathroom fitting quote include?

Name the fittings and finishes

“New shower” leaves too much room for misunderstanding. Identify the tray or floor arrangement, screen, valve and wall finish. Do the same for the bath, basin, toilet, taps, furniture and flooring. Check whether delivery and accessories are included. If you are supplying products yourself, make sure the fitter has the specifications before work is scheduled.

Include the work behind the finished room

Ask about removal, waste handling, surface preparation and any changes to pipes or existing fittings. Wall and floor repairs can be easy to overlook when most of the conversation is about new products. The quotation should explain the known preparation and how concealed problems will be handled if they become visible during removal.

Check the boundaries of the price

Clarify electrical work, decorating, ventilation, ceiling work and anything outside the bathroom. A quote may legitimately exclude some of these; the important thing is knowing who is responsible. Confirm whether applicable VAT is included and avoid treating a provisional allowance as a fixed specification. Ask what evidence or checks are included at handover.

Understand changes, payments and dates

Record payment stages and what each stage relates to. Ask how an unexpected repair would be described and authorised before it proceeds. Product availability and the condition of the room can affect the schedule, so distinguish a proposed start date from a confirmed arrangement. Keep the final quote and any agreed changes together for reference.
